When God Calls: Moving in Faith Without All the Answers

October 20, 2024

In 2020, as I was going about my day, moving from one task to the next, I felt the Lord speak to me—clear and unmistakable. He told me to start a blog. At first, it felt so unexpected, like a whisper from heaven cutting through the ordinary. It wasn’t that I questioned if I had heard Him right. No, it was more that the timing seemed so random. But here’s the thing: nothing God does is random.

For months, I poured myself into writing content, unsure what direction this blog was supposed to take. I wrote faithfully, always checking in with God, but His response? Silence. It was months later, in a quiet moment, that He reminded me: “Chetoca, didn’t you ask Me to teach?” That stopped me in my tracks. I had prayed earnestly, asking Him to use me, to teach others. But when He actually started guiding me to do it, I realized I didn’t expect Him to take me seriously.

Here’s the truth: I don’t have seminary training or a degree in theology. I’m not a biblical scholar by any stretch of the imagination. What I do have is a passion to help people see Jesus clearly in the messiness of their lives—their challenges, joys, and all the in-between—through the power of His Word.

When He called me to write, I wasn’t scared, which was unusual for me. I moved with an unexplainable peace, simply trusting that His hand was guiding me. No anxiety, no endless questions—just obedience. And as I followed, God opened doors I never thought possible. I ended up writing a children’s book and two prayer journals! Me—a writer? If you had told me that years ago, I would have laughed. But that’s the beauty of walking with God. When He calls you, He equips you.

Of course, doubts still tried to creep in. The enemy loves to whisper lies, reminding me of all the reasons I wasn’t qualified. But this time, I didn’t entertain those thoughts. In the past, I’d be the first to tell myself, “Chetoca, you can’t do this. You don’t have what it takes.” And you know what? On my own, I don’t. But I’ve learned something invaluable—God is always right by my side. His strength is made perfect in my weakness. That’s the coolest part of this journey—the deep, tangible closeness I now feel with Him.

So, what about you? Has God placed something on your heart? What has He told you to do that you’ve been putting off? Is it fear holding you back? Or maybe you’re waiting for everything to line up perfectly before you move? Let me encourage you—don’t wait. When God calls, He’s already paved the way.

Look at the Israelites in Numbers 13 and 14. God promised them the land of Canaan, yet they hesitated, afraid of the obstacles ahead. They let fear of the unknown steal their promise. Is that you? Are you missing out on what God has for you because of fear or doubt?

If I could offer you one piece of advice, it would be this: MOVE. Step out in faith, trusting that God has already worked out the details, even if you can’t see them yet.

Remember Joshua and Caleb’s words in Numbers 14:8-9: “If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us… Do not rebel against the Lord, and do not be afraid of the people of the land.” The same applies to you—don’t let fear, complacency, or unbelief stop you from entering your promised land. God has already worked it out; you just need to trust and take that step.

Ma’am/Sir, don’t miss your blessing because you’re waiting for every detail to be revealed. If the Lord delights in you—and trust me, He does—He will bring you into your land that flows with milk and honey. Now is the time. Don’t hesitate. God is ready to lead you into your promise. Are you ready to follow?

Ease & Stillness,

Chetoca B.
