Release the control and enjoy the dependency

December 19, 2022

My profession is an Operations Leader.  I coordinate actions and task amongst the team that enables them to interact effectively while completing these task.  Within my line of business, we have an audit team that ensures my employees execution of task align with policy, procedure, and regulations that governs the process.  During the quarterly audits I take time to think about all the possible scenarios of what could go wrong.

I develop an action plan on how these scenarios would be handled. I reviewed the procedures to see if they account for these scenarios.  If not, I update the procedures to reflect the appropriate information.  During audit time, there isn’t time for me to relax.  My mind is constantly racing as I’m working to prepare for this review.  I’m filled with anxiety, headaches, and a quick temper.  I am literally walking on eggshells until the audit is done.

How many of you are like this when you pray to God?  I am at times.  I am learning how to release the control. When we go to God in prayer we should trust God enough to let things happen without striving to predict or control them. We are so busy trying to plan for how God may answer that we are unaware of his presence.  When planning for the next scenario be careful that you are not becoming self-sufficient.

Always do a reality check of your planning process and ensure that you are including God.  Believe it or not, this is a subtle sin that many of us do that a lot of times go unnoticed.  We could be doing this so much that we are unaware and when we do realize it at times it becomes this tug a war.  This is the part we will handle, and this small part is what we will allow God to handle. Let’s practice today or beginning in 2023 that we give all the situations, thoughts, etc. to God to handle.

Let’s stop the back and forth of We give it to God, We take it back.  We give it to God, We take it back.  The truth of the matter is in and of ourselves we can never properly plan for any situation we may encounter.  I know we think we can especially when things work out just like we plan.  Just you’re your plans couldn’t have fell into place without God.  My message here is allow God to do the planning.  Allow God to lead you.

Trust that he knows what’s best and ahh…he doesn’t need our help except to carry out the action that he has given us.  Let’s train ourselves to continuous seek his help, even when we feel competent to handle that situation by ourselves.  Do not allow a line of division when it comes to including God; here are the things I can do” and “here are the things I need God for.”  The truth is we need God for everything and yes, I do mean that in the most literal sense.

Dependency on God will allow us to enjoy our lives more and the ability to face any and all situations confidently.  NIV-Psalm 37: 5&6 says, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, and your vindication like the noonday sun.”  Now, sip on that coffee.

Ease & Stillness,
